Just a wee thanks to all those who came out to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society’s 50th anniversary benefit two weeks ago in Ottawa, and a special one to those who donated to the cause. CPAWS raised lots of money that they will surely put towards protecting more huge swaths of vital land in Canada and many threatened species from our ham-handed human footprint. Here’s a link to the informative videos we made about some of the animals at risk such as the Grizzly Bear, the North Atlantic Right Whale and the handsome yet elusive Sage Grouse.
Also: If you missed our intimate affair at POP Montreal last month at Breakglass Studios, the good people at Sirius Radio were there to record it. The concert will be airing on Nov 22 at 10pm EST and Nov. 24 at 7pm EST on Sirius Iceberg 161 and XM radio’s ...
Hey. Here's trusting that you had a summer, that you listened to the music that goes with the weather, took your shirts off often and made time for trips to your local beach or swimming hole with the good people in your life. Maybe even fell in love. We did some of that ourselves.
In the meantime, we've been writing and recording a new record bit by bit. The ride so far has been truly fun and exciting so we’re convinced it’s taking us somewhere good. That’s the focus, these days, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say that we have some shows that we’re really looking forward to this fall.
Later this month we're playing an intimate soirée at POP Montreal much like the one we did there during POP two years ago at Breakglass Recording Studio. That was the first time we played songs from The End of That and the first time we had a bass player in our live mix, à la Mr. Eric Digras, who has played every show with us ever since. This one will be kind of a full-circle celebration: the end of The End of That, if you will. It’s back in the coziness of Breakglass with/avec at least a couple special guest musicians pitching in.
And later in October we’re in Ottawa for a special benefit for CPAWS, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. For 50 years, CPAWS has been working to protect Canadian wild areas and the species that live in them to the tune of half a million square kilometres, which is bigger than the Yukon Territory (or California, or Spain). In these very frightening times of climate change and rapid extinction, the work they do is of mammoth importance. You can learn more about it at cpaws.org and we encourage you to donate - the little things matter lots. The celebration will be at the Museum of Natural History, which is a big, old castle filled with animal science. Yes.
There are a few more on both sides of the border, check out the shows page for all tour dates. If you’re around these places we hope to see you.
Thank you always and love,
We're heading back out on the road this fall, playing shows in Canada and the Northeastern US. The tour kicks off with two shows at the Grad Club in Kingston and takes us to Edmonton, Ottawa, then two ...
